The Horse We Saved

Description

I put this picture on to show people what other people are capable of

We named him Lucky Buddy because he made it through the nightmare that someone did to him.

This is Lucky Buddy. My family found Lucky Buddy, an American Saddlebred, at a horse auction. Lucky Buddy was almost starved to death with horrible sores around his hips from colic and scars on his legs from what we think were once cuts from barbed wire. We decided we had to buy him no matter what. We had two bidders bidding against us and we don't know if they were slaughterhouse buyers bidding on him for slaughter or not but we knew we couldn't let that happen if they was. We outbid the bidders and brought him home.

Two days after buying buddy came down with colic. We got a vet out to help him and the vet said from how his hips looked that he had colic many times before we got him. We also had to give him a lot of dewormer because he was so full of worms. It took several long days of slowly nursing him to get him through the colic and other problems he had. This picture is a week or so after we got him. Today he is completely healthy, happy and full of energy but still shows the scars of the past. He is very attentive and loves to be loved. He rides adults and children and loves his job of entertaining everyone.

I was just scrolling through looking for an ASH to use in a manip when I came across this. So, me being me, I had to click on it, especially after reading the title.
I read the little story you shared with everyone, and seeing him here, and then again seeing him in Lucky Buddy Today, I promise you I shed a tear.

You and your family is what is not wrong with this world. You guys have done an absolutely amazing job nursing him back to health <3
